Sandpiper Inn was founded in 1990 in Winthrop harbor town, which is located at the 50 miles north of Chicago. It’s located near big boat parking & repair facility called North Point Marina, Illinois Beach State Park, Six Flags Great America, Gurnee Mils, Dairy land Greyhound Park, Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Great Lakes Navel Base, Snap on Tools, Skipper Buds and Abbott Laboratories.

The Sandpiper Inn consists of 1-2 story stucco and concrete block, interior building with flatter roof, 28 rooms, configured with a mix of bed configurations, including allowances for disabled, smoking and non-smoking rooms. Of the 28 rooms, 14 are king size regular, 2 units king size handicap, 5 units with 2 double beds, 5 units with 2 queen size beds, and 2 Jacuzzi suites. In-house meeting rooms for the use of organizations, business and civic groups in the area.
